I'm doing things and writing about it. Sometimes it works. Drop your email.
I took a business trip to Hawaii and swam out deep despite the tiger sharks. I walked onto the most dangerous beach in the world despite the warning signs. I swam through the reef on the north shore and caught my first wave.
And somewhere out there I remembered something I'd forgotten.
You can just do things.I've spent 12 years building businesses, building for everyone else. This next chapter I'm building for me. Reigniting old passions, finding new ones, taking on challenges that prove you can teach an old dog new tricks.
Do it for the highlight reel.Built 24 Skateboards from a bedroom into the biggest skateboard brand in Australia — shipping to 40+ countries, outgrowing the national governing body.
Mobilised the gaming community during the 2020 Australian bushfires. Raised $100K+ for relief through a single community effort.
Joined Chiefs Esports as Content Director. Launched Australia's biggest gaming house. Hit the first million-dollar jersey deal in Australian esports history. Took an Aussie team to Worlds.
Saw predatory agencies destroying the creators who built the gaming industry. Lock-in contracts, insane fees, limited earnings. Built HYPR to fix it. Grew a client from zero to 150K followers in under 12 months. Paid $5M+ to creators. Never missed a payment.
Not a commentator. An operator.
Most people have a main quest. Job. Career. Responsibilities. The thing they're supposed to be doing.
Side quests are everything else. The things you do just because. The passions you shelved when life got serious. The skills you always meant to learn. The challenges that scare you just enough to be interesting.
Here's what I've figured out. The side quests aren't the distraction from the main quest. They're the point.
They're where you remember who you are outside of what you do. Where you get humble again. Where you find the energy to go harder at everything else.
I'm chasing mine publicly. Surfing, skating, golf, whatever's next. One thing a day, every day, documented here.
This isn't about becoming a professional surfer. It's about proving you can still become something new.
What's your side quest?
How I think about building a highlight reel life. The systems, the decisions, the tradeoffs. This section is being built.
