I have always been terrified of the deep ocean.
Not in a way I talk about. Just quietly, in the back of my head every time I got close to it. Something about not being able to see the bottom. Something about what’s down there that I can’t control.
Then I went to Hawaii on a business trip.
I swam out deep despite the tiger sharks. I walked onto the most dangerous beach in the world despite the sign that said not to. I swam through the reef on the north shore, got cut up, and caught my first wave.
And somewhere out there, freezing and bleeding and laughing, I remembered something I’d completely forgotten.
You can just do things.
I’ve spent 12 years building businesses. Building brands, building teams, building for clients, building for everyone else. Somewhere in all of that I stopped building for me.
This is me starting again.
Every day I’m going to do at least one thing for myself. Reignite an old passion. Learn something new. Take on a challenge that scares me. Document all of it here.
Not because I have it figured out. Definitely not because I have it figured out.
Because I think a lot of us forgot we’re allowed to just go do things.
Welcome to the highlight reel. Let’s make it worth rewatching.
